Batman: Gotham Knight

Batman: Gotham Knight - sneak previewBatman has always been my favourite superhero. Don’t get me wrong I respect both Spider-man and Superman as much, however if I had to choose (or be one) it had to be Batman.

Why? I tell you why. Because Batman is just a MAN, not a “SUPER-man”. All he has is his martial art training, cool gadgets, his intelligence and that’s it. I mean he can’t fly, he doesn’t have a lot of people’s trust, and he mostly works at night.

He worked his ass off to become the man he is today, Bruce Wayne could have chosen to live his life like a playboy being one, if not the wealthiest person in Gotham. He couldn’t care about people’s problems, but what he did instead was to devote his life to fight against crime and injustice.

Batman’s persona should inspire people. Batman is the closest you can get to a superhero in real life, in fact, there are many Batman’s out there saving lives and trying to do some good for humanity.

I could go on and on why Batman but what I want to share is the new upcoming animation movie called: “Batman: Gotham Knight” from DC Comics.

Batman: Gotham Knight - DVD Front CoverFollowing “Animatrix” steps, Batman: Gotham Knight will be 6 inter-locking stories that will reveal Bruce Wayne’s transition from beginner to Dark Knight. Brought to life by 4 different Japanese studios by these masters of animation:

Yasuhiro Aoki (segment “In Darkness Dwells”)
Futoshi Higashide (segment “Crossfire”)
Toshiyuki Kubooka (segment “Working Through Pain”)
Hiroshi Morioka (segment “Field Test”)
Jong-Sik Nam (segment “Deadshot”)
Shoujirou Nishimi (segment “Have I Got a Story For You”)

This is such a great idea. I enjoyed Animatrix a lot and I think doing the same with Batman will only enhance the whole experience.

The DVD release is 08.07.08. The Dark Knight movie is out in May 2008.

Tron Re-born

Ah! The good old days of Sci-fi, they just don’t make movies like that anymore. Who hasn’t seen Tron back in the 80s? (Err…Jason hasn’t yet!)

Now, check this out: French filmaker Freres-Hueon emulates Tron’s eye-popping, neon-etched visual style with colorful cardboard trails, seamless stop-motion animation and authentic audio from the film.

What a fantastic result, a must see for all you geeks out there :-)

Death Note

I am huge fan of Manga since childhood. I still remember when I watched my first ever Manga series called Space Battleship Yamato or StarBlazers when I was about 7-8 years old. Since then, I’m hooked with Japanese animation.

Recently I started watching Death Note and I must say is one of the best animation out there. The plot is about a bright young student Light Yagami who finds a supernatural book that allows him to kill anyone by writing the victim’s name and picturing their face. He becomes obsessed with the idea of creating a new world without evil, disregarding the value of human life.

I am almost half of the serie and just can’t wait to see what will happen. One of my favourite characters is Ryuk – The Death God or Shinigami. He just freaks me out when he laughs!

Death Note

  • The human whose name is written in this note shall die.
  • This note will not take effect unless the writer has the subject’s face in their mind when writing his/her name. Therefore, people sharing the same name will not be affected.
  • If the cause of death is written within 40 seconds of writing the subject’s name, it will happen.
  • If the cause of death is not specified, the subject will simply die of a heart attack.
  • After writing the cause of death, the details of the death should be written in the next 6 minutes and 40 seconds (400 seconds).
